A new way to understand your performance through sweat
When you train, your body produces far more information than you can usually see. Heart rate, power and pace show what you are doing. But sweat can also reveal valuable insights into how your body responds as intensity increases.
At ONASPORT, we want to make this information easier to access.
That is why Onalabs offers supervised incremental tests, giving athletes and coaches the opportunity to try ONASPORT free of charge and use their own data to see how sweating changes during exercise.
In a 40–50-minute session, you will learn more about how you sweat, gain a clearer picture of your metabolic response and collect useful information to tailor your hydration and training.
Experience ONASPORT technology first-hand
We offer athletes and coaches the opportunity to take an incremental test with ONASPORT, supervised directly by the Onalabs team.
The goal is simple: to experience first-hand what it means to measure biomarkers in sweat and understand the information this technology can provide.
During the session, ONASPORT records your response as exercise intensity rises gradually, allowing us to analyse variables related to sweating and metabolic response.
And yes, participation is free.
What can you learn from the test?
1. Identify LT1 and LT2 through sweat lactate
As exercise intensity increases, the athlete’s metabolic response also changes.
During the incremental test, ONASPORT tracks how lactate in sweat evolves across the different stages of effort. Analysing this evolution makes it possible to identify the first and second lactate thresholds, known as LT1 and LT2.
LT1 marks the point at which the body begins to progressively increase lactate production, while LT2 corresponds to a high intensity beyond which lactate accumulation accelerates.
Identifying LT1 and LT2 through sweat lactate makes it possible to understand the individual response to effort and adjust training zones and intensities more precisely.
These results complement familiar metrics such as heart rate, power, pace and perceived exertion.
2. Understand how you sweat and fine-tune your hydration
Everyone sweats differently.
The amount of sweat you produce and its composition can vary considerably from one athlete to another. They also change with exercise intensity, environmental conditions and the type of activity.
During the test, you will see how your sweat rate changes and learn about your sodium concentration and sodium loss.
The aim is to move beyond general hydration guidelines and better understand your body’s specific needs.
3. Try ONASPORT in a controlled, supervised setting
If you are curious about the technology but have never used ONASPORT, this is an ideal way to get started.
The Onalabs team will guide you throughout the process, from setting up the device and completing the protocol to an initial interpretation of your data.
You will avoid setup errors, will not have to learn how to use the device on your own, and can ask the team questions directly.
How does the test work?
The protocol is adapted to each athlete’s level and takes place on a stationary bike.
The session has three parts:
- 10-minute warm-up to prepare your body and establish a stable physiological response.
- 25–35-minute incremental test in which the intensity rises in stages. The duration and increments are adapted to each athlete.
- 5-minute cool-down with a gradual reduction in intensity after the test.
Throughout the session, ONASPORT records data derived from your sweat.
An example
Imagine starting at a comfortable cycling intensity and increasing the power every few minutes.
At low intensity, you may have a particular sweat rate. As the effort rises, that response may change: you might begin to sweat faster, lose more fluid overall and show changes in other biomarkers.
Instead of giving you only a final result, the test shows how your body’s response develops throughout the effort.
This progression is one of the most valuable aspects of the data generated by ONASPORT.
What will you receive after the test?
At the end of the session, you will receive a Sweat Report summarising the main results from your test.
It will include:
- Your sweat rate and total sweat loss.
- Your sodium concentration and sodium loss.
- Your metabolic response.
- Information to help you better understand your hydration needs and how your body responds during training.
